Within the framework of “BOOST – Businesses and Organizations in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Operate Sustainably” project, the conference on “Public-private dialogue. AWAKENING 3.0 (Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan)” was organized in Namangan city.

On 4-6 November 2021, the regional conference on “Public-private dialogue. AWAKENING 3.0 (Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan)” was held in Namangan city within the project of “BOOST – Businesses and Organizations in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Operate Sustainably”.
The aim of this event was to create a dialogue between the public and private sectors as part of a joint effort to promote sustainable socio-economic development and improve trade links in the Fergana Valley. The event was attended by representatives of business associations, SMEs, banks, state and local authorities, youth support institutions, international organizations, as well as other interested partners exceeding 120 participants. Also entrepreneurs from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Russia, Lebanon, Pakistan, Zambia, Austria and Belarus visited the event.

Cross-border trade remains an important area of economic activity in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. In this regard, this large-scale event was held with the aim of establishing a dialogue between companies in the Fergana Valley of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and provided a platform for discussing the possibilities of creating a more favorable environment for the development of business and entrepreneurship. During the conference, participant also discussed the access to finance for small and medium-sized businesses, developed recommendations for stakeholders, and received feedback. Engaged experts and consultants shared their perspectives for possible elimination of problems hindering the development of entrepreneurship in the region based on the lessons learned and best practices in the implementation of various projects in this area.

We remind that the main objective of the BOOST project is to strengthen Business Intermediary Organizations (BIOs) in their ability to offer new services to their members and to increase the professional potential of entrepreneurs in the textile and agro-food industry in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
For a dynamic and sustainable business development, it is important that BIOs can effectively and efficiently engage in public-private dialogues in order to advocate the interests of them members, and to speak with a single voice vis-à-vis public authorities whenever possible. Moreover, BIOs cooperate with the government to create an enabling environment.
