


On September 23 of this year, the Confederation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan and with the support of Encompass Consulting, held a briefing on the subject “The ongoing work of the National Monitoring Agency to create conditions for cotton pickers and to prevent child and forced labour in the 2022 cotton season.”
During the briefing it was noted and agreed that the partners in the form of specialists of the Confederation of Employers of Uzbekistan, Sectoral trade unions and representatives of civil society institutions have, on a tripartite basis, begun to work actively to monitor the prevention of forced labour and to assess the conformity of working conditions with international standards. Representatives of world textile brands have also been invited to observe the National Monitoring process.
One of the main objectives of the Confederation in this work will be to promote the principles of decent work in the organization of harvests by farm employers.
